extradition to Canada

Zurück zur Länderliste

Extradition to Canada is legally possible under the German-Canadian extradition agreement dated July 1977, to which there is an additional agreement of May 2002. Extradition to Canada for fiscal offences is possible under the German-Canadian extradition agreement, but not extradition of German nationals to Canada (Article 16 II 1 GG).

Extradition documents are exchanged between the Federal Office of Justice and the Canadian Ministry of Justice, but in connection with the extradition to Canada, the search at Interpol is already sufficient to order provisional extradition custody in Germany.
